MiraGard Colorbond SR

Chemical Family
Acrylics & Acrylates

MiraGard Colorbond SR is a single component, self-crosslinking, and solar-reflective pigmented acrylic coating designed for application on concrete plaza decks, balconies, roof deck surfaces, and as a topcoat for polymer modified cementitious coatings such as Miracote MPC. An important characteristic of MiraGard Colorbond SR is that it increases the solar reflectance index (SRI) of the exposed surface, which results in a significantly cooler surface. It also features excellent hiding attributes, wash-down characteristics and provides excellent weathering and wear resistance. MiraGard Colorbond SR Topcoat is an easy to apply economical coating. It is recommended for resealing some Miracote systems to improve overall energy savings, via reduction in conditioned air utility costs. It may be applied to properly prepared surfaces where stain resistance and cleanability are a consideration.

Advantages

High SRI; Reduces surface temperature of decks; Assists in room conditioning utility costs; Economical; Durable, abrasion resistant; Cleanable, easy to maintain; Excellent weathering characteristics–resistant, non-yellowing; Available through Miracote distributors.

Limitations

Apply only to clean, relatively dry surfaces.; Apply only during temperatures ranging from 45°F to 90°F.; Moisture transmission and efflorescence migration may result in delamination and/or discoloration of the finish. Use MiraPrime Aqua- Blok XL or XLi to prevent this from occurring.

For Best Results

Install a minimum 4' by 4' test area site mock up for approval of acceptable color, texture, finish, adhesion, and any other critical requirement acceptable to the owner prior to proceeding with the installation.. Protect materials from excessive heat and cold and regularly check wet film thickness with mil gage and monitor consumption to ensure correct application thicknesses and rate are obtained.

Application Methods
  • Brush
  • Roller
  • Spray
Installation Steps

Apply in thin coats by brush, roller, or airless spray. It is usually applied in two coats and sometimes three coats. Always allow for losses due to application methods, surface porosity and texture. Dries to touch in approximately 20 minutes.
