Lily is a perennial plant belonging to liliaceae and there are many varieties of lily; some of them have white petal, others have dark purple petals with black dots. It is used for food and garden, especailly its scalelike and spheral roots of it 'Baekhap' is one of a medicinal ingredients. It had been written in Donguibogam that it has a positive effect on treating swelling. In folk remedy, people cured abscess or bites by applying meshed flower and sesame on damaged skin. Chinese and Japanese doctors traditionally prescibed Baekhap for reducing inflammation as well. Accoring to several studies, chemicals separated from lily flower have an anti-inflammatory effect and steroidal saponins from roots are anti-carcinogenic.
