Chrysanthemum has the longest history as an ornamental plant in the Orient. It is one of the Four Gracious Plants, it survives cold weather in fall and blooms, so it means free and quiet life. 'Gamguk' or 'Goui' refers to dried chrysanthemum picked in fall, used as food or medicine. In oriental medicine, it is prescribed to detoxify, alleviate fever and pain and make our body warm. Phenolic compounds such as chlorogenic acid and luteolin in flowers remove ROS, so it have an effect on preventing photoaging caused by UV.
