It is prescribed as moxa cautery, pain killer and styptic in oriental medicine. As a folk remedy, people relieved eczema, pruritis or dermatitis by applying cool extract of mugwort. In the mean time, Western people used it for exterminating and killing insects. It is reported that mugwart extract not only removes free radical and ROS(Reactive Oxyzen Species) and has an anti-bacterial effect against the skin flora.
