Lactococcus is a genus of lactic acid bacteria in milk, and it is gram-positive. It is interesting that they are homofermetative - producing only one product during the fermentation. They contribute to the formation of cheese's unique flavor when they ferment. In epidermis, they are known to supress the growth of inflammatory bacteria such as S.aureus, P.acnes.
