When snail's body is damaged, it cures for itself by secretng mucus substance. There is glycoprotein called 'Mucin' in the mucus, which is one of the components of skin, it helps skin tissues maintain the moisture. Furthermore, it has been observed that mucin has anti-bacteriial effect. We can guess that the protein part of Mucin has an anti-bacterial effect, because the effect disappears after treating protease. Also., Allantoin, another substance in the mucus of snail, plays an important role of soothing, tightening pore and Glycolic acid adjusts the pH of skin.
