Portaflame® CA 13

Chemical Name
Calcium Borate

Portaflame® CA 13 grade is produced from carefully selected colemanite, which is a naturally occurring hydrated calcium borate. Portaflame® CA 13 grade is a micronized, halogen-free flame retardant (HFFR) filler that is used as an effective synergist with other flame retardant fillers such as ATH, MDH, or huntite/hydromagnesite. The Portaflame® CA 13 grade can also be used as an alternative for synthetic zinc borate.

Benefits and Features

The flame retardant action of Portaflame® CA 13 grade is based upon its high char forming and glazing/fluxing ability in combination with endothermic decomposition. In applications such as polyolefin based wire & cable compounds, a significant reduction in the Peak of Heat Release Rate as measured by the oxygen depletion method is achieved. Portaflame® CA 13 grade is thermally stable up to 330 ⁰C and can used as FR in bitumen processed above 200 ⁰C.
