Incorporation

To avoid foam - and bubble-formation AFCONA-8203 should be mixed at the beginning of the production/application into the system. If it is added at the end of the formulation, a good dispersion must be ensured.

Product Properties

AFCONA-8203 is a special developed defoamer for unsaturated polyester where it gives good deforming property to the system yet maintaining the system transparency and clearity. This is an alternative to AFCONA – 2720 in high solid application systems like, UPE, epoxy and polyurethane. It not only gives good transparency, it also performed as reasonable good de-aerator in polyester and epoxy resin systems. This ensures the production of foam - and bubble-free compounds/parts. AFCONA-8203 is a special additive for thin layer (gel coat), casting resins and epoxy resin systems (e.g. floorings). In addition, it can be used for room temperature curing of unsaturated polyesters, which are used in glass fiber reinforced systems. AFCONA-8203 can be used in pigmented or non-pigmented resin systems such as:; unsaturated polyesters (SMC/BMC gel coats and synthetic mortars; two-pack epoxies; Polyester/melamine stoving systems; PVC-compounds In high pigmented and high viscosity system, incorporation of a suitable dispersing agent will reduce the viscosity and this will helps to improve de-aeration.; Products like AFCONA – 5010 and AFCONA – 5285 is suitable for extender rich system and AFCONA – 4070 and AFCONA 4047 are suitable for inorganic and organic pigments.

Addition and Dosage

0.1 -0.5% on total formulation. In general under normal condition, the dosage is 0.1 – 0.3% based on total formulation.

Storage Information

AFCONA-8203 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiry date is indicated on the container.
