RodLock® Structural Methacrylate Rodding Adhesive
- Chemical Family
- Methacrylates
RodLock® is a two-part non sag methacrylate, structural bonding adhesive designed for the structural bonding of steel and fiberglass rods into natural stone, granite, marble and porcelain counter top products. Combined at a ratio of 1:1, RodLock has a working time of 4 to 8 minutes and achieves nearly 90 percent of its ultimate strength in 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature curing. RodLock provides high strength bonds to the above reference surfaces with generally no preparation effort. RodLock bonds very strongly to steel, stainless steel, and aluminum metals. RodLock adhesives are not UV stable, and will yellow over time and must not be used to create imperceptible seams in countertops or for seaming countertops. This yellowing will not affect bond performance, but will affect bond appearance. Due to its high strength, keep groove widths and depths to a minimum, as wide and deep grooves may cause RodLock to crack the granite upon reacting and shrinking. We are not liable for cracked counter tops due to this effect.

- Shelf LIfe
12 Months. The shelf life of RodLock is twelve (12) months from the date of manufacture based upon continuous storage at room temperature (77°F or 25°C). Storage of RodLock adhesives in refrigerated compartments will extend the shelf life even more. Do not store RodLock adhesive or any other adhesives in a refrigerator which has food or lunch products in them. Be sure to bring RodLock adhesives to room temperature for 24 hours before use, otherwise longer cure and fixture times may be expected. Long-term storage at temperatures above room temperature will shorten the shelf life of RodLock adhesives considerably. Storage at temperatures above 100°F or 38°C could shorten the shelf life to less than one month. RodLock adhesives contain no water, so freezing of the adhesive for short periods is permissible, but is not encouraged.
