Afcona 3772
Afcona 3772 is a liquid additive designed to enhance both aqueous and non-aqueous coatings, particularly automotive OEM coatings and coil coatings in industrial applications. Compatible with nitrocellulose and polyamides, it acts as a leveling agent, reducing surface tension and improving substrate wetting. AFCONA-3772 should be added at the end of the batch preparation
- Storage Condition
AFCONA-3772 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiry date is indicated on the container.
- Product Properties
AFCONA-3772 is an acrylic modified fluorocarbon. It contains some carboxylic acid groups, which increase the polarity of the polymer to give good compatibility with most common resins used in coating. For use in aqueous coatings, AFCONA-3772 must be neutralized with a suitable amine. Complete water solubility will be obtained by addition of 9% triethylamine or 12% ammonia solution (25% concentration). AFCONA-3772: 1) gives no in can haziness 2) provides anti-flooding and floating 3) improves leveling 4) prevents craters and orange-peel 5) helps substrate wetting In solvent-based coatings, other non- silicone leveling agents like AFCONA – 3770, AFCONA – 3670 and AFCONA-3777 gives better performance than AFCONA-3772. Due to it good compatibility, AFCONA – 3772 is recommended mainly for high gloss clear coatings and as anti inner bubble aid for PU coatings. Like AFCONA – 3730, AFCONA – 3772 also have very good compatibility with most resin system. However AFCONA – 3730 is much better in leveling and AFCONA – 3772 is better in anti-crater and substrate wetting. In clear coating, to obtain all the performances mentioned, we recommended to combine these 2 additives together. For pigmented, matted and primer, we have other products like AFCONA - 3670, AFCONA – 3770 and etc that can fulfillll all requirements.
- Addition and Dosage
0.3 – 2.0% on total formulation. In general, under normal conditions, the dosage is 0.3 – 0.7% based on total formulation.
