TEGO® Antifoam MR 507

Chemical Family
Siloxanes

TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 is an organo-modified siloxane-based antifoam that is designed for foam control in non-aqueous media. It has a high silicone content, which makes it more effective than conventional products in bio-treated diesel fuels. TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 reduces foam collapse time and initial foam height, and it maintains its performance even in wet fuel and after storage for over four weeks. It also has excellent water shedding properties and a reduced treat rate compared to conventional antifoams based on polyether siloxanes. TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 is compatible with a wide range of diesel additive packages and can be incorporated into low-solvent formulations. It is also stable at low temperatures and can be used with conventional non-polar solvents.

Dosage Information

Depending on the composition of the additive package and the fuel grade the dosage of TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 may vary over a wide range. Consequently, the optimum dosage has to be evaluated in suitable test series. For first trials we recommend a dosage of 8 to 12 ppm referred to the treated fuel. This dose rate should also be used in the case of solely adding the antifoam to the diesel fuel.

Storage Information

In original closed containers TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 can be stored at room temperatures for at least 1 year.

Safety Information

TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 is soluble in a variety of aromatic and aliphatic solvents (e.g. long chain alcohols). This provides maximum flexibility in the formulation of diesel additive packages. Examples of suitable solvents for TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 include: aromatic naphtha, toluene, isodecanol, 2-ethylhexanol, hexanol and ethanol

Benefits and Features

Due to the high silicone content of TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 it outperforms conventional products in bio treated diesel fuels.; TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 reduces substantially and reliably both, foam collapse time and initial foam height. It maintains its outstanding performance even in wet fuel and after a storage time of the treated fuel exceeding 4 weeks.; Excellent water shedding properties could be achieved by using a sulfur-free demulsifier.; Compared to conventional antifoams based on polyether siloxanes, TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 proved to be much more efficient resulting in strongly reduced treat rates.; TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 may be incorporated into diesel additive packages requiring only small amounts or even no additional use of solvents, i. e. TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 supports the formulation of low-solvent additive packages. It shows excellent compatibility with a wide range of packages, regardless the solvent base, detergents, etc. TEGO® Antifoam MR 507 can be incorporated in most additive packages yielding clear and stable formulations even at temperatures as low as -20°C. If solvents have to be used conventional non-polar types (e.g. aromatic hydrocarbons) may be used.
