Use Levels

0.01%-1.0%. Rid-O-Foam® A-4 is normally used at a level ranging between 0.4 and 5 pounds per hundred gallons of latex paint. It is usually added in the pigment grind or during letdown, but can also be added into the paint before packaging. In latex polymerization, Rid-O-Foam® A-4 is incorporated at a level, starting at 0.01% based on total weight, during the polymerization reaction or during the stripping process. Foam control in a resin emulsion system is achieved at a level ranging between 0.01% to 1.0% based on total volume

Rid-O-Foam® A-4 is a 100% active defoamer designed to provide fast-acting and long-lasting foam control in a wide variety of water-based systems. It has demonstrated compatibility with acrylic, vinyl-acrylic, polyvinyl acetate, and styrene-butadiene binders. Rid-O-Foam® A-4 controls foam over a wide range of temperature and pH; it is compatible with a broad variety of soaps and surfactants.

Recommended Applications

Rid-O-Foam® A-4 is formulated for use in high gloss aqueous coating systems. It will not cause "fish eyes" or craters in most systems. Rid-O-Foam® A-4 will also not effect color acceptance or development. The product is also very effective in foam control in water-based metalworking fluids.
