Rice germ is the most nutrient-rich fraction of the grain. It contains 95% of the total tocopherols, one-third of the oil content, and most of the vitamins and minerals . The germ represents only 1% of the total weight but contains 30% of the nutrients. Nutritionally, the germ is therefore 40 times more concentrated in nutrients than the rest of the grain. The recommended daily allowances have been identified by directive 2008/100/EC. Vitamins and minerals are needed by the body in very specific quantities. Vitamins B1, B3, B12, E as well as magnesium, phosphorus and manganese have obtained positive claims from EFSA . These vitamins and minerals are naturally present in RiziGerm®; EFSA Approved Claims:; Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) has a recognized action on energy metabolism, the cardiovascular system and the nervous system.; Vitamin B3 (Niacin) has a recognized action on energy metabolism, the nervous system and tissue functions.; Vitamin B12 has a recognized action on energy metabolism, the blood system and tissue formation.; Vitamin E has a recognized action on the protection of cell constituents against oxidative damage.; Magnesium ( Mg ) has a recognized action on the electrolyte balance, the maintenance of bones and teeth, the normal functioning of the nervous system and can also contribute to the reduction of fatigue.; Phosphorus ( P ) has an action recognized for its contribution to the normal functioning of cell membranes, energy metabolism and the maintenance of bones and teeth.; Manganese ( Mn ) has an action recognized for its protective function of DNA, proteins and lipids against oxidation, the maintenance of bones, the functioning of energy metabolism as well as the functioning of connective tissues.
