- Properties
Polymeric dispersant PAT-ADD DA 420 shows strong interacting and high bonding strength onto inorganic and polar pigment substrates, thus creating a dense charged surface layer, which contributes to electrostatic stabilization of the dispersed particles. PAT-ADD DA 420 typically reduces the viscosity of the mill-base, enabling highest pigment loadings. PAT-ADD DA 420 is designed for use in a wide range of waterborne industrial paints, such as acrylics, stoving systems, 2-pack systems, epoxies, polyesters etc. Moreover, PAT-ADD DA 420 is recommended for use as dispersing agent in high loaded pigment concentrates. PAT-ADD DA 420 offers limited surface wetting; it is recommended to apply for these pigments PAT-ADD DA 420 in conjunction with strong surface wetting agents, such as PATADD DA 501 or to use PAT-ADD DA 401.
- Application
Dispersant for polar pigments in industrial paints and RFPC. Block copolymer.

- Addition and Dosage
The optimal amount of PAT-ADD DA 420 to be used is system related, but generally is between 0.5 and 2.0% PAT-ADD DA 420, calculated on the total weight of paint formulation. The product is best added to the mill-base before the pigments. For use in pigment concentrates (PC) higher levels are suggested, such as 1 to 6% PATADD DA 420 on total weight of the PC. The optimum concentration to be used depends on the individual requirements and conditions and is recommended to be determined experimentally.
