- Renewable Methanol
Compared to conventional fuels, renewable methanol cuts carbon dioxide emissions by up to 95%, reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 80%, and completely eliminates sulfur oxide and particulate matter emissions. (Renewable Methanol Report, Ata Insights). Increasingly, methanol's environmental and economic advantages are making it an attractive alternative fuel for powering vehicles and ships, cooking food and heating homes.

- Methanol Production
Enerkem launched the world's first commercial operation of its kind, producing and selling renewable methanol in 2016 at the Enerkem Alberta Biofuels facility in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It produced and sold about 5 million liters of renewable methanol before starting the installation of a new methanol-to-ethanol conversion unit which was successfully installed and operational in 2017.. Enerkem meets the highest international quality standards set by IMPCA (International Methanol Producers and Consumers Association)
