STEPCOTE® W-849
STEPCOTE® W-849 stands as a formidable wetting agent designed for waterborne coatings. Its incorporation can happen during the letdown phase of production or after final formulation. Despite its primary role being a wetting agent, its influence extends positively to crucial coating properties such as gloss, color acceptance, wet scrub resistance, hiding, corrosion resistance, and washability.

- Handling
- Bulk Storage Information
- Elevated storage temperature may be desirable to maintain ease of pumping, but product should be stored long term at ambient temperature.
- Non-Bulk Storage Information
- STEPCOTE W-849 which has been stored in drums at temperatures below 10 °C (50 °F) may thicken or solidify. It may be fluidized by warming with a drum heater or in a steam room. Drums should be vented prior to heating to avoid excessive pressure build up. Product temperatures over 54 °C (130 °F) are not recommended.
- Safety precautions (gloves and safety goggles-face shield, if splashing may occur) should be employed when handling STEPCOTE W-849. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose and skin. Wash thoroughly after handling material.
