Silanes

Silquest™ A-151 silane (vinyltriethoxysilane) is a general-purpose coupling agent used with mineral-filled polyolefin and elastomeric compounds. Silquest™ A-151 silane can be added as a monomer during emulsion polymerization to form silane-modified latexes that function as crosslinkers, forming very stable Si-O-Si linkages.

Recommeded Usage

Coupling agent for mineral fillers such as mica, talc, clay, silica, etc. to polyolefins and elastomers in compounds for the cable and wire industry. Crosslinker for polyethylenes

HIGHLIGHTS

Vinyl functionality allowing free radical addition to polymers; Increased rate of silane hydrolysis; Excellent wet and dry adhesion to inorganic substrates; Crosslinking functionality in vinyl, vinyl acrylic and acrylic resins

Use instructions

Silquest A-151 silane is soluble in water once it has been hydrolyzed. Hydrolysis can typically be aided by adjusting the pH of the water to between 5.0-5.5 with acetic acid prior to addition of the silane.
