PFCs have been investigated for biomedical applications since the early 1960's, in areas such as accelerated wound repair by the military, due to their excellent biocompatibility and their ability to carry high levels of gasses, in particular oxygen. Due to the MeL-Co research team's extensive knowledge of skin biochemistry, the potential uses for RejuvenOx were quickly recognized and the team conducted its own independent examination, determining level of safety, compatibility and topical applications. They have verified the product's ability to promote oxygen absorption from the atmosphere, a necessity in skin hydration. Because of its ability to make skin swell by retaining water, RejuvenOx can also be used successfully as a "plumper," as well as an agent in self-tanners, enabling tans to last longer through deeper skin absorption. RejuvenOx allows the skin to breathe and self regulate in polluted environments, does not clog pores, and does not interfere with the normal functions of the skin such as perspiration or maintenance of pH barriers. RejuvenOx provides an instant refreshing effect to the skin because of its emollient properties, and in relatively low concentrations, it improves the texture of tacky formulations, offering a very smooth and soft feel to the final product.
