Likra West PRE-Lacid S
Likra West PRE-Lacid S is a special supplementary feed with "acid salts" for the targeted adjustment of the cation-anion balance (DCAB) in the ration for dairy cows in the last three weeks before calving. Milk fever (paresis) is one of the most common metabolic diseases in dairy cows. The main cause is an excessive supply of potassium from potassium-rich grass silage before calving.
Properties
- Feeding Goals in Transit Phase

- HIGHLIGHTS
Why adjust the cation-anion balance [DCAB: (Na+K)-(Cl+S)] with acidic salts?; High potassium content in the grass silage, especially in the first cuts, sometimes > 30 g/kg DM; Inhibited calcium mobilization from bone; Rising risk of milk fever; Subclinical paresis causes costs (at least €200 per cow for treatment, reduced milk yield, longer guest periods,...); Greatly increased risk of secondary diseases (ketosis 9 times higher, abomasum displacement 5 times higher)
