- Scalp Microbiome Balance and Dandruff Removal
Bicobiome® is a multi-active delivery system designed to work in four steps to re-balance oily scalp microbiome and remove dandruff. The skin microbiome is a complex ecosystem that collaborates in the protective function of the cutaneous tissue. Oily scalp imbalance commonly promotes microbiome dysbiosis, specially related with Malassezia spp. resulting in inflammation and dandruff. Bicobiome® is a multi-active delivery system that incorporates a combination of sebostatic, postbiotic and keratolytic agents that are target delivered in different levels of the scalp thanks to Bicosome® technology. Bicobiome® re-stablishes the scalp environment in four steps, after which the natural homeostasis is achieved by the scalp's own natural processes. The sebostatic and anti-inflammatory agent, Niacinamide works in the follicle regulating oil and inflammation. The postbiotic Lactobacillus ferment promotes microbiome re-balance in the first layers of the skin. The skin barrier function is reinforced by the bicosomes that fill-up the lipid matrix and finally, Salicylic acid works in the skin surface promoting a mild desquamation to remove the dandruff, cleaning the environment for a healthier scalp function. The in vivo tests showed that Bicobiome® was effective in reducing sebum in 28%, dandruff in 47% and desquamation in 67% after 28 days of use. The variation of the fungal microbiome showed a decrease in the total of Malassezia spp., M. globosa and M. restricta individually and also in its ratio, which is associated by different researchers with a healthier scalp.
